Two beautiful Elans on Yahoo Auction

Post by kosei.fukuoka »

Both look like modified tremolo models with middle pickup and FRT on the first one.

I couldn't resist and bought the purple one. Just arrived from Japan, but I can't pick it up until tomorrow. I believe this is very rare violet blue sunburst color. Also, trem + middle PU look factory to me so maybe this is one-off or ElanIII prototype possibly? Will inspect more closely once its in my hands.

Have you received it yet? And could you post all the info on it soon?

yeah -- arrived super quick in fact! I've been out of town though so haven't had much chance to play with it but so far looks and feels awesome. As far as I can tell it all looks factory, so possibly a custom II or prototype III with the floyd and mid pup? but I need to inspect futher to be sure. If it's aftermarket they did a great job.

Also, where do you find the serials on these typically? I'll try and grab some info for the database next time I have it out.

Thanx!

Serials tend to be on the back of the headstock, but sometimes also at the bottom of the body near the strap button.

Wow, that top one - the purple color really pops. I bet he's too busy playing it to put it down and get back here and talk about it!

Looks like a proto of the Elan II. The Elan III would have the nicer inlays, that being said I'm jealous and i want that guitar. I would bet anything it has an '88 serial number. Very early. Please IM me for my address !!!

Hey sorry for immense delay!!!!

Serial is K90019. As far as I can tell it all looks factory so maybe prototype?

Looking for a matching case for it if anybody has an extra available lmk!

Just double checking: the K90019 serial belongs to the Purple Elan? And in which country to do you live?
